Ethical Mission
Here at Nerida Hansen Fabrics we are passionate and committed to supporting and nurturing local, independent artists and talent. We also value our positive, respectful and driven team members. Together we have made a commitment to be more transparent with our business operations, minimise our waste, embrace and integrate more sustainable practices, continue to make ethical choices and lessen our harm of the planet.

This business is a work-in-progress, a journey that will be ongoing and will contribute to positive change for our world, our people, our children and ourselves.

Organic Products
Cotton is one of our favourite and most popular textiles. Currently Nerida Hansen Fabrics sells Global Organic Textiles Standard (GOTS) certified
organic double gauze,  organic poplin, organic single jersey, organic twill sateen and organic voile in our organic range.

The GOTS certification for our organic cotton means that organic standards are ensured from the harvesting of raw materials through to environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing. It ensures that the cotton has been grown without genetically modified organisms (GMOs), without chemicals and with traceability from the cotton fields to the final customer.

GOTS also guarantees water efficiency for field irrigation, the respect for social working conditions and that finished products have been manufactured without any toxic products for the environment, workers or users.

Organically grown cotton sustains the health of soil, ecosystems and people by relying on the use of natural processes. Organic cotton is often softer as the fibres have not been broken down.

Sustainable Practices
Our fashion fabrics and designs are about longevity, not what is on trend and we want them to last from season to season.

As well as our organic range, we support sustainable cotton farming practises in partnership with the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI). BCI helps farmers grow cotton in a way that reduces stress on the local environment and improves the livelihoods of the farming community.

Our Lightweight Linen Cotton, French Terry, Organic Single Jersey and Tencel Linen are manufactured in China. Our manufacturing partner there is certified Oeko-TEX Standard 100 for testing textiles for harmful substances. The testing considers numerous regulated and non-regulated substances, which may be harmful to human health. In many cases it goes beyond and above national and international requirements.

Our digital printing on the textiles is non-toxic with no run-off.

Collaborations
Moving forward Nerida Hansen Fabrics will continue to collaborate with like-minded designers, makers and companies who are conscious about our environment, making sustainable choices and operate under fair work conditions. We will celebrate the people that make our brand what it is.
We are also committed to working with our suppliers to identify production processes that reduce impact on the environment. We want our supply chain to support its employees and create rewarding jobs.

As always, we will support creativity and believe in respect for everyone.

Fair Working Conditions
We strongly support and insist fair and safe working conditions throughout our supply chain. This includes the prohibition of child or forced labour and the guarantee of fair wages, reasonable working hours and safe working environments.

Important to note that the origin of our cotton supplied from China has been sourced from Shandong and Henan Provinces, who adopt an eight hour labour system with a higher-than stipulated salary level.

There is no discrimination at Nerida Hansen Fabrics in hiring, promoting, collaborating, licensing or terminating based on race, caste, religion, origin, age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, marital status or political affiliation.

Our Vision
We will continue to strive to ensure that sustainable and ethical practices are a priority with our business and our partners, suppliers and artists and to expand our organic range.
